Greetings From Hodges Hobbies;
The Dixie Aeromasters are having their spring fly-in this Saturday, April 26, at their field in Gray, Ga. Directions can be found on their website - http://dixieaeromasters.com/ .
Next week, May 1 thru 4, is SEFF, the largest electric fly-in in the world. And this year is shaping up to be bigger than ever. This event is put on by the Fayette Flyers and is held at Hodges Hobbies. Last year we had over 300 pilots and it looks as if this year will top that.
We've been flying the little Parkzone Ember here at the shop and having a lot of fun with it. It flies great outdoors in calm conditions but can handle mild winds. Great backyard flier! Comes complete for $139.99.
Take care, Mac

In looking at various Saturday forecasts, it looks as though it will not be a good day for flying. We could take the temps in the 50s but the forecast winds of 20 plus gusting to 40 would really take the fun out of it. For this reason we are canceling the race and will reschedule at a later date.

03/05/2008Greetings From Hodges Hobbies;
Perry is over for another year. It was good to see old friends and put faces on new friends. We have about got the shop put back together. It's been pretty hectic around here the past few days.
Wanted to remind everyone about the Quickie Race this Saturday, March 8. If you are planning on racing, be sure to go to www.hodgeshobbies.com and register. We will be racing Quickie 424 and Club 40.
Horizon has a new offer to encourage you to make the move to 2.4. We hear the comment all the time that if you buy a new 2.4 radio, you will then have to buy receivers for all of your airplanes. Now, for a limited time, if you buy a new JR or Spektrum 2.4 radio or module system, you can purchase up to two additional receivers and receive a free receiver for each additional receiver you purchase.
The new Hangar 9 Piper Pawnee 40s came in yesterday. These planes are going to be very popular.
See you Saturday, Mac

Greetings From Hodges Hobbies;
Received this email from Brunswick's Coastal Planes RC Club member Fred Barber:
It saddens me to say, Friend and fellow R/C Pilot, Randy Gantt passed away this morning, February 26th, 2008.
Randy has been flying for over 30 years and was currently the President of Coastal Planes R/C Club of Brunswick, Ga.
For those who knew and had the chance to fly with him, knew of his love for Aviation and the R/C Hobby, and what an excellent Pilot, Builder, and Sportsman he was.
He will be missed by many.
I am sure many of you have seen Randy at Hodges Hobbies fly-ins and many other fly-ins in south Georgia. I first met Randy over 25 years ago and considered him a good friend. My condolences go out to his family and club members. Attached is a picture of Randy and his P-51.

This weekend is the big Southeastern Model Show in Perry Ga. Hope to see many of you there. The shop will be closed Friday and Saturday. We will be loading for the show Thursday but will try to catch the phones. If you call and we miss you, leave a message and we will return your call.
Take care, Mac

Greetings From Hodges Hobbies;
A reminder to all that we have a Stick Contest this Saturday, February 2. Starts at 10AM.
We've got quite a few new arfs in stock as well as some new planes hanging from the ceiling. Haven't got them on the website yet. Will try to do that soon.
Billy Update: Billy is making progress, albeit slowly. He is going to work everyday, driving wherever he wants to go, doesn't use his walker anymore. Moves slowly, still has aches and pains, but getting better every week. He came by today and can now move both wrists some. A couple of weeks ago he could move his left wrist a little and the right none at all. Today he could move the left wrist quite a ways and the right a small amount. Very encouraging!
See you Saturday, Mac

Greetings From Hodges Hobbies;
Our pylon race Saturday was absolutely great! We had a record number of racers and the weather could not have been nicer. There were 23 in Quickie and 9 in the new Club 40 class. We got the first planes off the ground about 10:30 and didn't finish until 6PM. The new Club 40 class had a great turnout for the first race. There were several new guys in this class and all had a great time. It looks as if this class is going to be very popular as it is a fun class to race and very economical to get into. We already have several guys that weren't ready for this race but are planning on racing in the next race. And the planes (Skyraider Mach 2 or LA Racer) make great everyday airplanes. They fly very similar to a Tiger Stick. Engines ran Saturday were Thunder Tiger .40 and Supertiger .40 and it seems the Thunder Tiger is going to be the engine of choice.
At day's end, the winners were:
Club 40
1. James Barr
2. Tommy Tomasson
3. Doug Bebensee
Quickie 500
1. James Barr
2. Bill Johanson
3. Brad Clayton
We have set a date of Saturday March 8 for the next race. From all the feedback we received, it seems the guys in Club 40 would like to keep the Club 40 an entry level event and not race the experts from the Quickie class. So at the next race the Quickie entrants will not be allowed to also race in the Club 40 event. This will also help the "available worker" situation.
We have also scheduled a Stick Contest for February 2.
We have the new Hangar 9 Sundowner 50 in stock. Also new Scorpion heli motors.
Take care, Mac

Greetings From Hodges
Hobbies;
The race this Saturday
is shaping up to be one
of our best. Lots of
entrants in Quickie and
a great signup for our
initial run of the Sport
40 class. I think this
is going to be a very
popular class. And the
weather forecast looks
good. Check the website
in the morning and if
you are not registered
or there is a frequency
discrepancy, email or
call me at the shop and
I will get the correct
info to Robin. Again, if
you are planning on
racing and haven't
registered, please do so
tonight or give me a
call tomorrow.
We still need helpers
Saturday. A gallon of
fuel for helping and a
front row seat! Thanks
in advance! We need you
here before 10AM.
See you Saturday, Mac

Greetings From
Hodges Hobbies;
This is a reminder
about the Quickie Race this Saturday, January
12. We will start at 10AM as usual. Be sure and
go to
www.hodgeshobbies.com and register if
you are planning on racing. I think we will have
enough to run the new Sport 40 class so if you
have a Skyraider or LA Racer and plan on
attending, please register and note that you
will be entering the Sport 40 class. So far it
looks as if we will have a nice turnout. If you
are interested in this new Sport 40 class of
racing and would like to check it out, come out
Saturday and take a look. We could also use help
in putting the race on, so if you are coming to
watch and would like to help and take a gallon
of fuel home, be here before 10AM Saturday and
notify us that you are available.
